Rolls-Royce is now getting ready for its first fully electric production model, the Spectre. However, it won’t be updating the rest of the change which includes the Phantom flagship that has just made its spying debut.
Rolls-Royce – Facelifted Phantom
The facelifted Phantom is a lightly camouflaging prototype. It is hiding subtle design changes. Moreover, all the body panels do remain actually unchanged, besides the grille and the headlights that is going to feature the new graphics. Therefore, we should not rule out more design changes in the bumpers. It could appear later on in the development.
Rolls-Royce – Exhaust Pipe Covers
The rear end retains the identical styling however the exhaust pipe covers are not fitting as in the production model. Then again it could be an issue with this early prototype. However, the quad exhaust pipes which are hiding under the bumper prove that this is an ICE-powered model. It will most likely happen with the V12.
The twin-turbo 6.75-liter V12 is the facelifted model. It does currently produce 563 hp (420 kW/571 PS) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of the torque in the flagship. In fact, the unit could have minor updates in order to comply with emission regulations. Thus keep it alive for more years until the forthcoming ICE ban in various markets.
In debuted in 2017, the current Phantom is introducing the “Architecture of Luxury” all-aluminum spaceframe architecture that is also underpinning the Cullinan and the Ghost. In fact, soon it is going to be used by the complete Rolls-Royce portfolio. Therefore, the platform has been developing with electrification in mind. Then, it can support BEVs as is noted in the announcement of the upcoming Spectre. In fact, this does mean the new Phantom could, in fact, boast an electric variant in the future. Although this would definitely arrive after 2024.
As a 2023 model, the mildly updated Rolls-Royce Phantom is expecting to arrive. It will mark four years after the introduction of the new generation. Also, like every Rolls-Royce, it will feature countless personalization options. It does boast many different bespoke editions that are designing to satisfy the taste of each owner. Also, we could also see a “Black Badge” variant since those are becoming more and more popular.
