Gov. Ron DeSantis has made it clear in his State of the State speech on Tuesday that he does like teachers, first responders, and freedom and he doesn’t like Dr. Anthony Fauci, critical race theory, abortion, illegal immigration, and Burmese pythons.
Gov. Ron DeSantis Addressing the Corona Virus Pandemic
Moreover, DeSantis had opened his major address with a continuous subject he has pushed over and over again during the Corona Virus pandemic. In fact, Florida will not be a lockdown state and the mandates that other states are imposing to fight COVID-19 will not work.
Escape Hatch
“Florida has become the escape hatch for those having issues under the authoritarian, arbitrary, and seemingly never-ending mandates and restrictions,” DeSantis said. “These unparalleled policies which are ineffective and they have been destructive. Moreover, they are grounding more in lockstep adherence to Faucian declarations than they are in the important constitutional traditions.”
Up for reelection in November, DeSantis is eyeing a possible 2024 presidential run. There is a conservative agenda for 2022 laying out. Also, he has said that would include keeping the undocumented immigrants out of Florida. Thus it would create a law enforcement office. It would solely be dedicating to fighting election fraud. Plus stop the schools from teaching critical race theory and then protect the unborn.
Gov. Ron DeSantis: “Florida the Free State”
Ten times during the 33-minute speech, DeSantis referred to Florida like that. It was often (rightfully so) interrupting by applause from Republican lawmakers. This occurred as the Legislature did open its annual 60-day session.
Leader in Job Growth
Florida is a leader in job growth. This is based on Governor DeSantis’ policies. That, in fact, has caused the state revenue to rise and put the state in a good position for drafting its next budget.
“Freedom does work,” DeSantis said. “We are the envy of the nation with our economy. In fact, our state is well-prepared to guard against future economic turmoil.”
